Why are the frauds so much lower in hell than the violent? This has to do with your spirit, honesty, character, being a fraud, flatterer is deceptful in the face of God.
This is the most graffic and descriptive layer in hell. Dante is really having fun here, putting the flatteres in excrement with demons and pitchforks and fartings by the barrators or lawyers.
